Only In Berkeley: A Magic Sculpture Garden

Buldan Seka's house is home to a host of her whimsical sculptures.

Located on Spruce Street, just a few blocks off of Marin, Buldan Seka’s residence is peopled with the unique, oversized sculptures she has created over the years. Bold and affecting, her colorful works arrest the eye, calling out for consideration by passing viewers and often stopping them dead in their tracks.

“The first time I walked by here, I must have stayed for ten or fifteen minutes, just looking at them,” recounted Berkeley resident Joan Wells. “They’re amazing. Amazingly beautiful.”

Seka’s property is multi-tiered and offers visual layers on which to display her pieces. Peering over railings, poking through tree branches, and perched on ledges, the ceramic figures stand in whimsical salute, welcoming visitors from their resting places in Seka’s magic sculpture garden.
