Police Investigating Homicide Discovered During a Welfare Check

The body was found in an apartment in the 1100 block of Addison Street on Friday night.

The City of Berkeley Police Department (BPD) is currently investigating a homicide that occurred in the 1100 block of Addison Street.

On Friday, February 28, 2014 at approximately 11:46 a.m. BPD received a call
for a welfare check at an apartment building in the 1100 block of Addison 
Street. Officers arrived at the location and discovered a male, in his 50s, 
deceased on the premises.

The subsequent investigation determined the death to be a homicide. 
The investigation is ongoing, and we have no further information to share at 
this early point in this case.
