This office in Lower Sproul Plaza assists veterans, transfer students from community or other colleges, youngerMore students who are financially independent, students who are also parents, and re-entry students, defined loosely as people who have been away from school five years or more. </p> <p>The office has comfy couches and computer workstations, coffee, a microwave and a study pod for parents with toys and books for kids. Peer and professional counselors are on hand to help ease adult students into (or back into) the Cal experience. </p>

This office in Lower Sproul Plaza assists disabled students and prospective students with all aspects of their lifeMore at UC Berkeley. The staff helps with obtaining appropriate housing, paid internships especially for disabled people, classroom accommodations such as note-takers, tutors and extra time for exams, and priority enrollment, among many other services.</p> <p>Students with a disability must apply for the services in a process separate from their application to the university, and must submit medical certification of their disability. Applying for the services is handled through the Disabled Students Program as well. Needless to say, the entire office (in the Cesar Chavez Student Center) is retrofitted for wheelchair users. The office also distributes an extremely useful Tote Bag CAG (Campus Access Guide) that lists disabled parking spots and wheelchair entrances throughout campus — helpful for visitors to the Cal campus as well as for students. </p>
