Director Bonnie Grossman claims the gallery is "Berkeley's best-kept secret" because most gallery visitors are from out of state, and most people who see the collection do so during one of the gallery's traveling public exhibitions around the Bay Area.

The gallery is free and open to the public by appointment, however, and most of the pieces exhibited (carved walking sticks, elaborate wooden frames, quilts and a myriad of other whimsical items from an bygone era) are for sale.
