In response to Chris j. I am not opposed to adding funds to care for homeless animals What I am…Read More opposed to is the incredibly high salaries of some of Berkeleys'city employees and the mismanagement of funds. The people of Berkeley need to put a leash on the wasteful allocation of funds in this city and redirect those finances in better directions. Like the police dept. I don't know if you've noticed but street crime in Berkeley is rampant. It is filthy with trash all over the streets. The only real effort to clean up this city is by the residents. And yes animal shelters are a vital part of life and should be allocated all that they need. Berkeley is killing much needed revenue with there ridiculous parking rules and enforcement By this I mean I personally know many people that won't shop or dine here for fear of a ticket. How much does Berkeley spend on parking enforcement ? Vs. money coming in. This city is crumbling and the blame starts with city hall. I for one am past the point of caring and moving to the east coast. I guarantee when I come back to visit there will be more filth more empty stores and more homeless. So keep voting in the same people like you keep doing Berkeley you deserve this filthy depressed city. The only thing keeping it alive is the University.

What that guy said. We already pay so much for extras in our property tax bill, I am generally…Read More averse to voting in any additional costs. As for these fee hikes, $390,000 a year to care for 2000 animals! Who knew! Each animal is a little under $200 a year to be caged. If we didn't care for them of keep them locked up, well...I guess we'd have a shitload of strays roaming the streets, looking for handouts, hunting in packs stalking playgrounds, or whatever. Just can't get over that...

A huge part of the cities deficit is due to the Berkeley mayoral staff and council taking pay far…Read More above the state average, but of course that goes unstated. As a home owner I would love to know why we pay for street sweeping once a month, when half the debris is left behind anyway.Try a little restraint in further taxing the residents and look into realistic city government cuts and useless spending that is abound.

it's not the price of the fuel as much as it is what's happening to the money.....the city of la…Read More habra heights has very little debt, so we can see that they actually receive about twice as much tax revenue that they need to operate the city....the rest is being pillaged....
the state controllers' office is doing a good job....they are right behind me and are the ones that told me to track the gas tax ....the cali board of accountancy & bar association is on my sh!t list ....they of all agencies should have realized that there has to be additional duties of care over any accountants and lawyers touching taxpayer money....
