I agree with Mike Martin. The Raiders seem to think the community owes the something vs. the Raiders…Read More reaching out to the community. They have turned a blind eye to the rude and aggressive behavior of many of their fans. We used to go to all of the home games, but stopped, once my kids reached an age where they understood what the words meant, that were being used by a lot of fans there. The Raiders need to get rid of the "Commitment to Excellence: theme and work on simply being decent.

I understand that the Black Hole has this reputation and the team certainly doesn't want to alienate these die-hard fans. But perhaps the upper deck (where these cheap seats are) could be turned into a more family friendly zone. Games for kids on the plazas behind/under the seats, food offerings that have more kid-friendly variety like pizza, pb&j, milk, and then a strict two-beer limit or something like that. The Raiders have an opportunity to build not only more fans who have less money, but fans who could now afford to bring the kids too and therefore build the next generation of fans.

If the refs had been making calls in the early game, players would have had to play by the rules throughout. Instead they let there be numerous late whistles and late hits (where one guy had the runner stopped with a tackle and then other guys were allowed to hit him--very physically dangerous and with game-changing possibilities of injuries and fumbles) and also over aggressive shoving/fighting after the point (mostly started by the Ravens).
I thought the officiating was poor and changed the nature of the game.
Wasn't this almost the fewest penalty calls that these teams have EVER had? (I'd like to hear those statistics.) Did these teams change that much from their previous season play that they now weren't doing penalties? I doubt it.

The game was very entertaining for fans of both teams. That is why you watch. The 49ers played like…Read More a young team. Flashes of brilliance and moments of stupidity. The non-calls by the refs changed the ebb and flow. Their performance was pathetic and that is supposed to be the 'best' ref crew the NFL has to offer. Bad calls and non-calls never even out. I expect to see the game played by the rules.
I am not sure what the ultimate outcome would have been if it was properly officiated but it most definitely would not have been the same game I watched. What a disgraceful display by the NFL on their biggest stage.

Plus they can have like 300-350 people in the whole place so you really get a lot of the fan enthusiasm. No other place in Berkeley compares for watching sports.

Several factors play a role in not allowing my son to play team football:
--having a doctor for a…Read More father, who told us the injuries he had seen as a result of football, including concussions, broken clavicles, and so on;
--recent (and not-so-recent) research and studies on brain injuries as a result of football
--my own experiences as a high school student, and witnessing a classmate injured on the field during a game, and later finding out that he was paralyzed from the neck down.
With all of the other options for team sports (my son plays baseball, soccer, tennis, and swims), he will not play football. He gets it, and agrees with this decision. He has seen the research, and has no desire to play.

We've said no for the past 8 years and are continuing to do so. So recent brain damage info to us was not a surprise, just validation for a safe decision.
