The Berkeley Chess School (BCS) teaches more than 7,000 students the art of chess at more than 164 schools throughout Northern California. The school is a nonprofit 510(c)(3) organization that seeks to enrich the lives of children from all backgrounds in the discipline of chess. BCS offers eight regional chess tournaments, as well as summer camps and Friday night chess classes in Berkeley and Walnut Creek in addition to the hour-long instruction that it offers in schools. The Berkeley Chess School is also committed to teaching students with special needs and students in Title I schools.
