Don't you love it when art, business and cocktails intersect? The Acme, a neighborhood bar on San Pablo in Berkeley, has done just that. In the back corner of the bar-they have created wall space for art and photography shows. Great marketing on their part. Exhibitors invite friends and supporters. The artist gets exposure, leads for business and hopefully, even sales.
A few weeks ago I attended this interesting event. I was invited by my neighbor, Erik Niemann. Erik is founder of "Drink Space Beverage Photography" and is also an abstract painter with a background in architecture. Erik is captivated with the internal space of drinks; how light, glass and liquid interact.
”I love taking up-close and abstract photos of wine, beer and cocktails. I am intrigued by the space of the liquid itself and unique perspectives, such as capturing the underside of the drink’s surface. I look for the beauty that is there, yet rarely experienced,” says Erik.
The picture is "Acme Afternoon." The happy group of supporters are enjoying the cocktails. Erik Niemann is on the far right. Want to see more? Go to Erik's website www.drinkspacephoto.com
