Ñora Spanish Cuisine Pop-Up Restaurant and Film Night at La Peña

¡Cine, Cena y Cerveza!

We believe that good film, like food, is an art form. Film is a way in which we entertain, educate and express ourselves. Film reflects culture, and inevitably affects it. Spanish film in particular is a genre, which due to Spain’s unique history has an incredible repertoire.

We are highlighting our passion for Spanish film to get you ready for the first film in our upcoming Pop Up dinner and cinema series, ¡Cine, Cena y Cerveza!

Join Ñora Spanish Cuisine and friends for our first ¡Cine, Cena y Cerveza! (dinner/drinks/movie) at La Peña Cultural Center (3105 Shattuck Ave. Berkeley, CA 94705) on Friday, November 22, 2013. Chefs Sergio and Emily will be serving innovative Spanish cuisine at a Pop Up restaurant at La Peña, followed by a screening of the Spanish film, Volver.

Dinner seating is available between 5:30-9pm, and the film will be screened at 10 pm.

The Film...

Volver (“to return” in Spanish) is a 2006 Spanish film written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar. Starring actress Penélope Cruz. The film revolves around an eccentric family of women from a wind-swept region south of Madrid. Cruz plays Raimunda, a woman forced to go to great lengths to protect her 14-year-old daughter Paula. Her mother Irene comes back from the dead to tie up loose ends. There is death, tragedy, love, magical realism and comedy. Volver was one of the films competing for the Palme d’Or at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.

Paella/Saffron rice with chicken, chorizo, calamari, shrimp, peas 11

 Quesos/Mahón curado, Idiazábal, Truffle Tremor, membrillo 12

Churros/Churros with warm chocolate milk 5

Helado/Goat cheese and basil ice cream 7
