Need A Hand? Let Us Volunteer for Your Organization

Berkeley Patch staff would like to volunteer a day with a Berkeley non-profit. Do you have a suggestion?

Across the nation, Patch editors and staff spend five working days per year volunteering in their respective communities through a program we call Give 5.

Berkeley Patch is due for its first Give 5 day, and to kick off the program our journalists and editors — including our summer intern, J.J. Barrow, and our regional editor, Ari Soglin — would like to volunteer a day with a Berkeley non-profit organization. Do you have a suggestion for us? Perhaps your organization is looking for volunteers for an upcoming event, or the summer season has left you low on extra help. If so, let us know in the comments, giving details about what you're organization does and how you think we could help out.

Our skills include all the writing, editing and researching talents that we use daily as Patch journalists, but also the ability to pick up trash, cook or dish up meals, pull out weeds, help kids with their homework, paint over graffiti, re-stock shelves at a thrift store, organize second-hand goods and walk rescue dogs. You name it, and we'll try our best to do it!
