Message from the Berkeley Police Department:
On Saturday at 11:33 p.m. an armed robbery occurred on the 2500 block of Hearst Ave. The victims were two male students, ages 25 and 30. They were walking on the sidewalk in front of UC Berkeley’s Etcheverry Hall when a dark vehicle pulled up to the curb directly in front of them. A man got out of the passenger side of the car and approached the victims. The suspect spoke to the victims, produced a semi-automatic handgun and demanded the victims’ property. The victims complied and the suspect fled the scene westbound on Hearst Avenue. UC and Berkeley police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect or the dark vehicle. The victims were not injured during the encounter.
The suspect is described as a black male, 20 to 25-years-old, 180 lbs., about six-feet-tall and wearing dark clothes.
