Oct. 9: Joel Ben Izzy, story teller, for 25 years has been traveling the globe and collecting stories. He has recorded an award winning CD and written an acclaimed memoir of his journey into muteness. “A New Year, A New Story.”

Oct. 16: Young Mi Angela Pak, hospice chaplain, a Catholic convert and Dharma teacher at Empty Gate Zen Center in Berkeley. “The Earth is my Mother’s Bosom: A Glimpse of my Father’s Religion, the Heavenly Way.”

Jan. 1, 2012: Jeremy Taylor, “Myths, Dreams, and Religion.” Is the search for reliable and responsible perspectives really an individual championship sport, or is it actually still a team sport (even for Unitarian Universalists)?

Jan. 8: Stephen Hermann, clinical psychologist. “Moby Dick, a Myth for our Time.”

Jan. 15: Helene Knox: poet, editor, UU history scholar, “Meet Your Spiritual Ancestors.” Helene will read from her own “snapshot” poems featuring Universalist and Unitarian women and men—their deeds, personalities, and values.

Jan. 22: Hana Matt, teacher of world religions and spiritual direction at the Graduate Theological Union, at Interfaith Spiritual Directors Training Institute, and at the Chaplaincy Institute for Arts. “Bliss in World Religions I.” The many ways to find lasting happiness from indigenous, native, earth-based traditions and also from Hinduism.

Jan. 29: Hana Matt, “Bliss in the World’s Religions II.” We will explore the many ways to find lasting happiness from Buddhism and from Kabala (Jewish spirituality).
