How Aikido Supports Montessori Education

How Aikido Supports Montessori Education, a presentation by Brandon WilliamsCraig, Ph.D., chief instructor at Free Aiki Dojo and at Golden Bears Aikido at UC Berkeley, and creator of the Martial Nonviolence (MNv) curriculum.

Brandon has been teaching Aikido at The Renaissance School, a Montessori school in Oakland, since last summer.

In his class, students are offered an Aikido-based developmental environment in which they learn to practice peace together with their bodies and thoughts as though peace itself were a martial art.  MNv is a combination of aikido, acting, and group facilitation skills.  Participants come to define and practice peace collectively as “conflict done well.”
