You get what you pay for, the old saying goes.

There are a lot of reasons for the higher price tag. Location is probably the main reason. There can also be amenities as well as the size of the yard.

In Berkeley, this two-bedroom, one-bathroom home at 1301 La Loma Ave. is listed at $750,000.

It's 900 square feet, which means its costs about $800 per square foot.

The residence is described as "one of Berkeley's beloved homes."
