Nominate the Best Toy Store in Berkeley

Tell us which is the best place in town to get toys and games for kids. We'll put it to a vote and see whether it becomes a Summer 2012 Readers' Choice winner.

Patch is relaunching its Readers’ Choice program and we’re asking you, your friends, family, neighbors, coworkers and anyone else who knows what kids like in Berkeley to name the best in town.

We’ll keep accepting nominations through July 19. After that, nominations will be closed and we’ll start the voting on July 23, so make sure to get in your favorites now.

All you need to do to nominate a favorite is to add it in the comments below.

If you already see the business or place you want to nominate, make sure to add your comment about why you favor it, because we may not be able to add each one to our poll and we want to make sure the top vote getters make it.

Thanks in advance for your participation.

Mr. Mopp's of course!! A toy store that has fabulous toys! A place where you can actually bring your kids and/or grand kids to while you shop because it's not a "hands off" toy store. (There's nothing worse than trying to tell a two year old, don't touch). The science and the arts and crafts sections, my personal favorites, are wonderful.

Mr. Mopp's, hands-down. I take my grandchildren and nieces there -- as I went when I was a child! They have more items per square foot than anywhere else (and, perhaps, any other store, period) -- it feels like a walk-in toy chest -- but still manages to be accessible and organized. And the best and best-priced kids' birthday party favors (and Easter basket and Xmas stocking stuffers) ANYWHERE!

I'm an LONG time Elmwood resident, so I will say Sweet Dreams on College Ave. The staff is fun and enjoys helping customers, and they have the best displays in the window (anybody remember the flag from the Golden gate bridge replica?) Second up. Mr Mopps SHOP LOCAL!!

Mr Mopps!! The history of this store is especially interesting because it was bought up and saved by Devon McDonald son of Country Joe McDonald of 'Country Joe and the Fish,' who spearheaded' electric music' right here in Berkeley. And btw, Country Joe wrote the F-- song, one of my personal favorites, and something really special to pass on to my grandchildren along with Mr. Mopps wonderful and fine selection of toys :)
