What Do You Think of the Occupy Berkeley Protest?

On Saturday, Oct 15., Occupy Berkeley protesters will gather outside of Bank of America to rally against corporate greed. Is it an effective way to spread the message?

The "leaderless resistance" against corporate greed and corruption comes to Berkeley Saturday, Oct. 15, as part of the Occupy Together movement.

Across the country, cities are being "occupied" by protesters representing "the 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%." The movement began with Occupy Wall Street on Sept. 17, and has since spread from east to west, with many major cities starting their own occupation — including San Francisco, Oakland .

Occupy Berkeley will be holding a planning meeting at noon on Saturday, Oct. 8 outside the  in Downtown Berkeley, and plans to protest at the same location on Oct. 15. .

The Occupy Berkeley protesters hope to emphasize the demands shared by Occupy Wall Street: "We demand that Barack Obama ordain a Presidential Commission tasked with ending the influence money has over our representatives in Washington," read the original Occupy Wall Street press release

Since, the movement seems to have adopted an open-ended policy regarding the reasons for the protests, turning into a general "airing of grievances," as described to ABC News by Columbia University political science professor Dorian Warren.

The story is being picked up globally as the movement expands. The Guardian is tracking the protests through their live blog, Twitter is alive with #OccupyTogether and #OccupyWallStreet conversation, while New York Magazine claims that the protests are "vaguely on the radar of the people running Wall St."
