A truck struck a fire hydrant Friday afternoon on San Pablo Avenue, causing a tall geyser of water to shoot into the air near the McDonalds not far from the Albany border.
According to the , a truck hit the hydrant, near 1198 San Pablo Ave., around 1:10 p.m.
The East Bay Municipal Utility District is working on fixing the leak, but has encountered challenges locating the shut-off, according to the Fire Department, because it may have been paved or cemented over.
Authorities had to shut down the main to stem the flow, and crews were continuing to work on the problem as of 2 p.m.
