Woman, 81, Shot in Apparent Home Invasion in Lincoln Highlands

An 81-year-old woman was shot this morning in an apparent home-invasion robbery on a block of relatively expensive, large homes in the Lincoln Highlands neighborhood of Oakland.

An 81-year-old woman was shot in an apparent home-invasion robbery in the Lincoln Highlands neighborhood of Oakland this morning, Tuesday, according to Oakland police.

At 10:31 a.m., police received a report of a shooting in the 4100 block of Laguna Avenue, according to Oakland Police Officer Johnna Watson. That block features relatively expensive, large homes and is about two blocks from the private Head-Royce School.

"Upon arrival officers located an 81-year-old female victim, who suffered a gunshot wound," according to an email alert from Watson. "The victim was transported to a local hospital where she is reported to be in stable condition."

"The preliminary investigation has revealed this may be a home invasion robbery due to the fact that the suspect forced entry into the home," Watson said.

"The suspect is described as African American male, 20’s, 6’0” tall, 175 pounds and wearing dark clothing," she said. "At this time it is unknown if this suspect acted alone or with others."
