I find that suggestion ludicrous and offensive to the victims.

Seriously thinking of pulling my son out of UCB. It breaks my heart. When I was at Cal 25 years ago we had lots of mentally ill and homeless folks around, and I never feared for my safety. This is out of control...

I'm really sorry to hear that and you make a very good point that is lost on many that propose to "clean up" I was in a accident and homeless for a number of years and I know through personal observation that the majority of homeless people would come to a students ( Or anyone else s for that matter.) aid or at least call for help. The felons of the campus area come from out of town and get these crazy ideas that students are rich and an easy mark They also think and are sometimes right that the police are pre-occupied with with make work psedo-enforcement like a full fledged undercover investigation and 9 man arrest with a richmond house raid on Hippy Bob over a ONE five dollar hemp granola cookie. They could go to the Berkeley Bowl Bulk Isle and make a two ton SUPER BUST there. And of course the endless hassling of homeless and those not wearing the latest fashions. A telling point is that the big debate in the Department, City Hall and the People is the Berkeley P.D. wanting to buy Tazers. We all know Tazers are rarely used on armed robbers. But a famous for killing a number of elderly homeless people and and convulsing student who dare to speak up at the sky rocketing tuition's while Admins and football coaches take anther absurd pay hike. I hope your son remains a UC Matriculant but if this absurd world view keeps up you just may be justified in findind a school more grounded in reality. Thanks again for your open and honest remark.
