UC Berkeley police said Wednesday that three young men have been arrested on separate occasions for numerous thefts at the Recreational Sports Facility on Bancroft.

Police said more than 50 thefts have been reported at the campus exercise complex located on Bancroft Way.

The three suspects are ages 18, 20 and 21, police said.

Here is a description of the apprehensions from the campus police department (with suspect names omitted by Patch):

Three suspects have been arrested for thefts at RSF.  On February 25th UCPD responded to a report of several thefts having just occurred at RSF.  The suspect was still at the scene and causing a disturbance.  When the officers arrived the suspect ... tried to flee but was taken into custody by UCPD.

On May 1st a UCPD officer noticed a suspect removing items from the RSF Field House.  The suspect ... was subsequently arrested for theft.

On May 11th UCPD received a report of an individual playing basketball at the RSF who matched the description of a possible suspect from prior theft incidents at the basketball courts.  Officers contacted the suspect when he left the facility and asked for identification.  The suspect ... gave the officers his ID and then fled from the officers.  UCPD executed a search warrant at MELSON’s home and recovered stolen property from RSF.  The suspect was taken into custody and admitted to multiple thefts at the  RSF in the past 16 months.
