Suspected Cal Campus Robber Arrested

Kody Alan Smith, 24, is being accused of threatening and stealing cash from two women.

University of California police arrested a 24-year-old on suspicion of multiple robberies in which victims were allegedly forced to withdraw and hand over cash from a U.C. Berkeley ATM.

Kody Alan Smith has been charged with multiple counts of robbery, according to a University of California Police news release Tuesday.

In two separate incidents, Smith is accused of threatening women to give him cash near the university's Sproul Plaza. He allegedly posed as a magazine salesman and would approach women before leading them to a nearby ATM and forcing them withdraw to give to him, the news release said.

Smith could have had two accomplices, the police said. More details on the crimes can be found here.

Drug addiction motivated no doubt. I hope Cody gets the help he needs. Even if it entails being incarcerated.
