Strong-Arm Robbery on Haste and Piedmont

The crime took place Wednesday evening.

A man was robbed of his cellphone while walking near the intersection of Haste Street and Piedmont Avenue Wednesday evening.

At about 5:15 p.m., a male suspect approached the victim from behind and forcibly grabbed his cellphone, a University of California Police report said.

The suspect then fled in a waiting green Chevy Malibu. The car was seen going north on Piedmont Avenue, the report said. The victim wasn’t injured.

The suspect was described as a Black man in his mid-twenties, about 5 feet and 10 inches tall, 150 pounds, with buzzed hair and wearing a black t-shirt with a multi-colored logo on it.
