A sidewalk in front of a University of California at Berkeley residential hall was briefly taped off by Berkeley police Thursday afternoon after a stabbing victim wandered up to the student housing area, a campus official said.
Around 2:30 p.m. the Martinez Commons residential hall sidewalk was blocked off after Berkeley police responded to a stabbing victim who was dripping blood near the student housing area, said Marty Takimoto, a spokesman for UC Berkeley housing.
The victim had been stabbed about a half block away from the hall, located on Channing Way at Telegraph Avenue, and wandered up in front of the residential hall courtyard leaving a trail of blood, Takimoto said.
Emergency responders transported the victim to a hospital and police closed off
Information about the stabbing was not immediately available from Berkeley police.
Takimoto said the victim was not affiliated with UC Berkeley.
