Robbery Reported on Cal Campus Saturday Night

Police say they searched the area near Sproul Plaza but were unable to find the suspect.

A strong-arm robbery occurred on the campus of University of California at Berkeley last weekend, according to university police.

A 20-year-old student was walking south through Sproul Plaza at 10:42 p.m. Saturday when three people on bikes demanded his property. The suspects then proceeded to knock the victim to the ground and punch him before taking his property and fleeing west down the Grinnell Path, police said.

Officers searched the area but could not find the suspects. According to police, the suspects are three black males who are about 6 feet tall with medium to skinny builds who were wearing hooded sweatshirts with dark colored pants.

University police advise the campus community to always remain alert, to travel in groups whenever possible, avoid displaying electronic devices in public and to utilize the school's free night safety services.
