A 6.9-magnitude earthquake might have struck the city over the weekend, and for participants in Saturday's emergency preparedness training in did, as they rehearsed how to perform rescues and communicate with safety officials.
The citywide Community Emergency Response Teams training exercise helped get hundreds ready for possible environmental disasters.
“It’s not a matter of if, but when,” Deputy Fire Chief Gil Dong told the Daily Californian before a debrief session at the end of the exercise. “Whether it’s an earthquake or a fire, we need to be prepared.”
