Part of Claremont Ave. Closed by Fire

Claremont Avenue in the East Bay hills will be closed most of the day today, Tuesday, because of a brush fire, according to Oakland police.

Claremont Avenue is expected to be closed between Alvarado Road and Grizzly Peak Boulevard for most of the day today, Tuesday, as firefighters continue mopping up from a brush fire, according to Oakland police.

Police said they received a request for traffic control assistance from the Oakland Fire Department at 11:41 a.m. because of a brush fire in the area.

The fire appeared to be contained by 12:30 p.m., police said.

That affected section of Claremont Avenue is in the hills within Oakland city limit. The street travels through Berkeley and Oakland.
