An Oakland man on parole for human trafficking is in custody on suspicion of DUI and weapons charges following a high-speed crash and shooting on the lower deck of the Bay Bridge early this morning.
Antonio Roberson, 29, remains hospitalized with injuries that are not considered life-threatening after a 2 a.m. crash at the S-curve east of Treasure Island, CHP Officer Michael Ferguson said. Someone fired shots after the crash, but Ferguson said no other information about the incident is being released as yet since an investigation is underway.
Roberson and a 26-year-old woman passenger from Australia were transported to the hospital, but the woman was released this afternoon. Roberson was on parole for false imprisonment for the purpose of human trafficking, and is expected to be booked on the DUI and weapons charges once he is released.
The investigation shut down lanes and snarled eastbound traffic on the bridge for most of the morning. All lanes had been reopened by 10 a.m., CHP Officer James Evans said.
San Francisco police homicide inspectors are assisting in the investigation into the shooting, SFPD spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.
