Motor Home Flips on I-80, Collides With Tow Truck

A motor home flipped onto its side and collided with a tow truck on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 in Berkeley this morning causing four people to suffer minor injuries, the California Highway Patrol said.
 
Shortly before 5:30 a.m. the CHP received a report of an injury collision blocking all lanes of eastbound I-80 in the vicinity of Gilman Street. Responding officers located a 1976 Dodge motor home, between 20 to 25 feet long, that had come to rest on its side in the roadway and a 2006 Isuzu tow truck carrying a car that had jackknifed, the CHP said.
 
After jackknifing, the tow truck came to rest on an embankment separating the highway from the Gilman Street off-ramp. According to the CHP, the driver of the tow truck suffered minor injuries and the three occupants of the mobile home voiced complaints of pain.
 
The tow truck driver was transported to Highland Hospital and the occupants of the mobile home were transported to Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, the CHP said.

The far right lanes of eastbound I-80 and the Gilman Street off-ramp remained closed for almost four hours this morning while debris was removed from the roadway and an investigation into the cause of the collision was underway, the CHP said.
 
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, but the CHP arrested the driver of the motor home, identified as 46-year-old Fremont resident Laron Presley, according to the CHP.
