One person has been arrested in connection to a Thursday night shooting that left one man dead in South Berkeley, a lieutenant said.
Responding officers located a victim lying in the roadway on Oregon Street, west of Sacramento, according to the Berkeley Police. Officers determined the male victim had been shot. Paramedics took the victim to a local trauma center, where he was pronounced dead, according to Berkeley Police.
Officers learned that the two men who had walked out of a corner store were confronted by a small group. At least one person in the group was armed.
The men who had walked out of a corner store began to run away and a suspect began firing. One of the two men avoided being hit while the other was struck multiple times, according to Lt. Kevin Schofield.
The suspects then fled the scene. One arrest has been made, but due to the ongoing investigation, Berkeley Police are not releasing the suspect’s name.

Berkeley Police believe the shooting was targeted and not random. Thursday night's homicide is the city's third of 2012.
