Man Critically Injured by Car at University and 10th

A pedestrian was critically injured at 8:23 p.m. Tuesday night when he was hit by a vehicle in Berkeley, police said. The driver is cooperating with police in the investigation of the accident.

A pedestrian was critically injured when he was struck by a car in Berkeley on Tuesday night, a Berkeley police spokeswoman said.

At 8:23 p.m., police received a report that a person had been hit near the intersection of 10th Street and University Avenue, spokeswoman
Jennifer Coats said.

The male pedestrian was taken to a hospital and remained in critical condition this morning, Coats said.

She said the driver of the car involved is cooperating with investigators, who are looking into whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
