Jury Deadlocks in Child Pornography Trial with Berkeley Connections

A decision has yet to be made by prosecutors on whether to refile charges against a man charged with child pornography in a case with Berkeley links, according to a report by the Santa Cruz Sentinel.

The Santa Cruz County District Attorney's Office said Monday no decision has been made whether to seek another trial for a former Santa Cruz man charged with child pornographyo after jurors were unable to reach a consensus on Thursday evening, according to a report by the Santa Cruz Sentinel.

Alexander Marcel Morisse, 34, was arrested after the child's mother found sexually explicit photographs of her then 4-year-old daughter in the trash bin on Morisse's computer, according to the Sentinel.

The mother reported the photos to Berkeley police in April, the Sentinel reported. Since the photos were taken while the family was living in Santa Cruz, the case is being prosecuted in Santa Cruz County, according to the Sentinel.
