Exposure, Lewd Act by Man in Women's Restroom at UC Berkeley

UC Berkeley police say a man exposed himself and committed a lewd act in view of a 19-year-old female in a women's restroom in a campus dorm study center. The female reported the incident, and the man remains at large, police said.

A man remains at large after a performing a lewd act in a University of California at Berkeley ladies bathroom Tuesday morning, a police lieutenant said Thursday.

Officers responded to a report of an indecent exposure in a restroom in the Academic Service Center of a housing complex on the UC campus at about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, Lt. Eric Tejada said.

A 19-year-old woman used the bathroom and as she walked to a sink to wash her hands, she saw a man looking at her while he was masturbating, Tejada said.

The victim returned to the service center and reported the incident to housing staff, who then called university police, he said.

Police were unable to find the man, and Tejada said he remains at large today.

Tejada said the suspect is described as a heavyset white man between 30 and 40 years old. He is about 5 feet 8 inches tall and was last seen wearing a T-shirt and light-colored pants.
