Boston Marathon: 25 Berkeley Residents Registered

Twenty-five people from Berkeley are registered as runners.

A day of celebration has turned into tragedy and chaos as two explosions take place about an hour after the first man crossed the finished line in Boston this Monday.

For more about the explosions, see "Scores Injured by Explosion at Boston Marathon Finish Line" on Back Bay Patch.

According to the Boston Athletic Association website, 25 people registered for the race from Berkeley. Of those, 19 had alread crossed the finish line.

It's likely that others from the city travelled out there to give them support. Patch will continue to report this story as it develops and bring news about our local runners as we hear more.

There is no confirmation about what may have caused the explosion.

If you know anyone of these people, please encourage them to call their family members or email Berkeley Patch at berkeley@patch.com. The number of injured or any casualties have not been released.
