Employee Punched in Ice Cream Shop Robbery 2 Blocks from Cal Campus

An employee of the Cream ice cream shop on Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley was punched just after midnight early Thursday morning when chasing a robber who had just stolen an iPad, UC Berkeley police said.

Just after midnight early Thursday morning, a man entered the Cream ice cream shop on Telegraph Avenue at Channing Way in Berkeley just as it was closing and took iPad, according to UC Berkeley police.

The man fled, and two employees chased the suspect, who punched one of the employees, inflicting minor injuries, police said in a crime alert.

On Thursday, December 12th, 2013 at approximately 12:01 a.m. a robbery occurred at the Cream ice cream shop located at 2399 Telegraph.  A male suspect entered the business at closing time.  The suspect stole an iPad and fled the business.  Two employees chased the suspect.  The suspect punched one of the employees and then got into a waiting vehicle which fled the scene.  BPD and UCPD searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects or the car.  One of the victims suffered minor injuries during the encounter.

The suspects were described as:
Suspect #1 – A Hispanic male, approximately 22 years of age, 5’11”, with a medium build, wearing a 49ers jersey, blue jeans, and a brown hat with ear flaps.
Suspect #2 – A Hispanic female in her 20s, 5’2” in height, with a thin build, wearing a black jacket.
Suspect Vehicle – A White/Cream colored sedan with tinted windows.
