The driver fled the scene and struck another vehicle before being spotted and detained by a responding officer, according to Berkeley Police Capt. Erik Upson.
The three pedestrians suffered moderate to minor injuries, and the driver of the struck vehicle had minor injuries, Upson said.
The driver of the Camaro, Sherri Carbone Cruz, was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, possession of methamphetamine, bringing a controlled substance into the jail, and felony driving under the influence, Upson said.
Cruz, 53, is being held on $135,000 bail at the Santa Rita Jail awaiting arraignment at 2 p.m. Monday in Alameda County Superior Court, according to Alameda County Sheriff's Office records.
Early in the morning on the day before, six blocks away on Shattuck next to the downtown Berkeley BART station, a man was violently beaten by another man who then fled in an SUV, crashed into a tree near the North Berkeley library and was arrested, according to police.
