UPDATE: Missing man was found in San Francisco Tuesday afternoon.
The Alameda County Sheriff's Office is searching for an autistic man who ran away from his family while at Greenhouse Market in San Leandro last week.
Christian Galarpe, a 32-year-old Asian man went missing on July 2. Deputies searched the area near Greenhouse Market in San Leandro but were unable to locate Galarpe.
Unable to communicate verbally, Galarpe has the mentality of a child. According to the sheriff's office, Galarpe might not be able to identify himself by name.
He has run away from home in the past, deputies said. Galarpe's family told deputies that he tends to sneak onto BART trains and in the past he has been located in several cities and psychiatric facilities.
Galarpe is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He has a right leg disability and usually walks with the assistance of a cane, deputies said. He was last seen wearing an orange short-sleeved shirt, brown pants and a brown hat, deputies said.
Deputies are asking anyone who has seen Galarpe to contact Det. Landeros at (510) 667-4434 or local law enorcement.
