Crime Alert: Woman Pepper-Sprayed Before Attempted Mugging

The woman was approached in the 2200 block of Durant Ave.

 

A 20-year-old woman was pepper-sprayed before an attempted robbery on Durant Avenue Wednesday evening.

The victim was walking in the in the 2200 block of Durant at about 6 p.m. when a man and woman approached her. The woman allegedly pepper-sprayed the victim and the two suspects then tried to take the victim's purse, according to a U.C. Berkeley police report.

The victim held on to her purse and the suspects fled. They might have left in a white vehicle, the report said.

Berkeley police searched the area but did not locate the pair.

The suspects were described as:

Suspect 1: A Black female , 23 years of age, 5’04” in height, heavy
build, black hair in a bun, wearing a yellow shirt and blue jeans.

Suspect 2: A Black male, 23 years of age, 6’4” in height, with a thin
build.

Has anyone had to use their pepper spray on someone/something? I have had the same spray for about four years.
