Scooter Smashed in Crash in Front of Cal Stadium

The northbound lanes of Gayley Road in front of the UC Berkeley football stadium were closed for a short while this afternoon, Friday, after a southbound car swerved up and over the landscaped median and crashed into a parked scooter.

A car driven by an elderly woman crossed the median on Gayley Road in front of the UC Berkeley stadium this afternoon, Friday, and smashed a parked scooter.

No one was injured in the 1:54 p.m. crash, which closed northbound lanes of Gayley.

A witness said the gray Toyota was going south on Gayley when the engine revved and the car swerved left going uphill over the median across the northbound lanes and smashing into the parked green scooter.

Berkeley fire department paramedics checked the driver, who stood with the aid of a walker.

UC Berkeley police at the scene said she appeared to be uninjured. They said the cause of the accident is under investigation.
