Campus Police Log, June 15 -- 17

UC Berkeley police recover stolen vehicle, deliver good news to owner.

Friday, June 15

3:45 a.m. – A 22-year-old woman was the victim of an alcohol-related illness at West Gate. She was transported to Alta Bates Hospital.

6:27 a.m. – A burglary via an unlocked door of two laptop computers and a video camera was reported in Unit 3 of Norton Hall.

9:39 a.m. - A university employee reported the grand theft of her purse and its contents in a Boalt Hall second floor restroom.

4:20 p.m. – A 71-year-old woman was the victim of an illness at the Greek Theatre. She was treated and released.

5:19 p.m. – A 75-year-old man was the victim of an illness at the Greek Theatre. He was transported to Richmond Kaiser.

5:27 p.m. – Police arrested Richard Knowles, 44, for violating a UC exclusion order in People’s Park.

5:51 p.m. – Assisted Berkeley Police Department with the apprehension of a burglary suspect from 2732 Buena Vista Way in the Hearst Mining Circle.

5:51 p.m. – An employee reported the theft of her dark blue Schwinn bicycle from the Tolman Hall bike racks. Under investigation.

9:52 p.m. – A man reported the window-smash burglary of his 2007 Toyota Prius in the Strawberry Canyon Pools parking lot. Under investigation.

11:33 p.m. – Police arrested Cassandra Haynes, 25, on a Pinole Police Department misdemeanor warrant and a Richmond Police Department misdemeanor warrant at Bancroft Way and Telegraph Avenue. Cited for being an unlicensed driver.

11:42 p.m. -- Police arrested Joseph Hanzy, 30, for having an open container in a vehicle and possession of marijuana in a vehicle at Bancroft Way and Telegraph Avenue.

Saturday, June 17

6:27 p.m. – A red 1991 Buick Le Sabre was towed to Hustead’s Tow for having expired registration over six month in the Foothill Lot.

6:42 p.m. – A man reported the theft of his Samsung Smart Phone at People’s Park. It was recovered later at a cell phone retailer at 2594 Telegraph Ave. Suspect is a black male, 6 feet, 3 inches, with a muscular build and wearing a white tank top and shorts.

8 p.m. – Police arrested Ronald Kamina-Harris, 26, for obstructing a police officer at People’s Park and excluded from campus for seven days; Shakara Sessoms-Howell, 20 for obstructing a police officer at People’s Park, also excluded from campus for seven days; Sean Van Pelt for possession of nitrous oxide with intention to inhale at People’s Park. Police will seek warrant.

Sunday, June 17

9:56 a.m. – A 17-year old male sustained an injury in Witter Field. Taken to Alta Bates Hospital.

8:53 a.m. -- Assisted Berkeley Police Department and Albany Police Department with a vehicle surveillance at Pomona Avenue and Dartmouth Street. Suspect vehicle was a gray 2013 Ford Explorer with missing plates and Hilltop plate holders.

9:49 p.m. – A stolen red 1990 Mazda LE-5 pickup was recovered at 2600 Ridge Road, Richmond Police Department jurisdiction. The owner was notified.
