The body of an older adult male was found on rocks in the water on the Berkeley shoreline this afternoon, Wednesday, police said.

"There's no sign of foul play," said Police Lt. John King of the East Bay Regional Park District. The park district is responsible for the McLaughlin Eastshore State Park, which includes part of the Berkeley shoreline.

Police received a 911 call transferred from the California Hghway Patrol about the body about 3:30 p.m., King said.

The fully clothed body was found next to Frontage Road about half a mile south of University Avenue, King said. It appeared to have been in the water for some time, he said.

A representative of the the Alameda County Coroner's Bureau said the body had not been identified as of 7:30 p.m.

A van from the coroner's bureau took the body away from the shoreline at 6:07 p.m.
