Boalt Law Student Pleads Not Guilty in Bird Beheading

A second suspect, also a UC law student, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge last month.

An attorney for Justin Alexander Teixeira on Monday entered a not guilty plea for the Boalt Hall law student in the torture and beheading of an exotic bird at the Flamingo Las Vegas hotel last autumn, according to the Oakland Tribune.

Teixeira, 24, of Placerville will face a hearing in Las Vegas in April to determine if he must stand trial, the article said.

A second Boalt student, Eric Cuellar, 25, of Berkeley, pleaded guilty last month to a misdemeanor charge in connection with the incident, the Tribune reported.
