Berkeley Reports One Homicide This Year, Lowest Since 2001

30-year-old Tobias Pemadorji Eagle, fatally shot March 8, was the only person killed in Berkeley in 2011. It's the city's lowest homicide count in a decade.

A 30-year-old man shot to death March 8 in the back yard of his Blake Street home was the city's only homicide in 2011, Berkeley police reported.

This is the lowest homicide count in Berkeley since 2001, police Sgt. Mary Kusmiss said. Five homicides were reported in 2010, Kusmiss said.

Tobias Pemadorji Eagle, of Berkeley, was gunned down early that afternoon in his yard at 1634 Blake St. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
