Berkeley Police Log for April 29 to May 1, 2012

Incidents are derived from reports referenced in the UC Police Daily Activity Bulletin, the Berkeley Police calls-for-service log and other reports.

April 29

11:20 p.m. -- Police stopped a 43-year-old Berkeley man at Shattuck Avenue and Channing Way for failing to wear a seatbelt. A records check revealed he was on probation with a search clause for a DUI and narcotics. Police arrested him after finding five glass meth pipes and discovered he was driving with a suspended license.

11:26 a.m. -- An officer arrested a 24-year-old man for violation of a domestic violence restraining order, county probation and state parole violations at Strawberry Creek Park.  

5:30 p.m. -- A home in the 1200 block of Cedar Street was burglarized during the daytime via an unlocked window. The resident reported the theft of a Dell laptop, jewelry and a stereo, an estimated value of over $12, 000.

2 p.m. -- Sometime between 7 p.m. Sunday, April 29 and 2 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2008 beige Lexus was stolen from the 1800 block of San Antonio.   

May 1   

6:25 p.m. -- Two men ordered food from an eatery totalling $35 on the 2100 block of Shattuck Avenue and left without paying. A worker chased the two eastbound on Allston Way then northbound on Oxford Street.    

6:38 p.m. -- Police stopped a driver after he ran a stop sign at 63rd and Herzog streets and discovered he had a suspended license and was on felony probation for auto theft. He was arrested after police found five grams of methamphetamine in the driver’s possession and in his car, packaged for sale in individual zip seal baggies.
