A man was beat over the head and body while sitting at People's Park Saturday morning.

From the Berkeley Police Department:

UCPD was notified by a local hospital regarding an assault that occurred
on Saturday, October 6th, 2012, at 9:30 a.m., in People's Park.  The
victim, a non-affiliated 49 year old male, was sitting at a table in the
park when he sensed someone approaching him from behind.  The victim
turned around and was struck several times in the head, arm, and shoulder
with a club-like object.   The suspect fled the scene southbound through
the park and then westbound on Dwight Way.  The victim sustained multiple

unable to locate this individual.

The suspect is described as a white male in his twenties, 6 feet tall, with an average build, wearing a red
