CHP: Berkeley Man Arrested After Leading Officers on High Speed Pursuit
The pursuit, which got up to speeds of 100 miles per hour, ended when the driver surrendered after his car spun out.
California Highway Patrol officials say a 38-year-old Berkeley man was arrested this morning after he lead officers on a high speed pursuit from Berkeley to Martinez.
According to CHP, the man was driving an Acura stolen from San Pablo.
The CHP released the following information about the car chase that ended with the arrest of Felix Blas of Berkeley.
"At 0905 this morning, an Oakland CHP officer located a stolen Acura on I-80 E/B near Gilman Street. The Acura was stolen out of San Pablo. The Acura fled, and a pursuit was initiated. The Acura reached speeds of over 100 MPH and fled for 23 miles until the driver finally surrendered after spinning out from trying to drive in the center divider of highway 4 near Pacheco Blvd. The driver, 38 year old Felix Blas of Berkeley, was arrested for vehicle theft and recklessly evading police. Blas also was booked on an outstanding felony warrant for previous weapons violations."
