Berkeley Crime: Woman Shoved to the Ground and Robbed

The Berkeley crime narratives for April 21-27 also incude residential burglaries and an auto theft.

The following narratives have been selected and written by the Berkeley Police Department. 

April 21

Auto Theft, Haste Street/College Avenue On Sunday, April 21, 2013 at 10:06 a.m. the victim called BPD reporting her vehicle stolen. The victim parked her vehicle in the area on April 15, 2013. When she went to use her vehicle she discovered it missing. The officer conducted an investigation and it appears the vehicle was taken by an unknown suspect. Taken was a black 1997 Honda Accord with four doors.

April 22

Auto Burglary, 1000 Block of Oxford Street On Monday, April 22, 2013 at 10:35 a.m. the victim reported their vehicle broken into by an unknown suspect. The victim reported that the suspect entered her vehicle via unknown means. The suspect prowled the interior of the vehicle. It appears nothing was taken.

April 23

Theft, 1700 Block of University Avenue On Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at approximately 7:15 p.m. a theft occurred inside a restaurant in the 1700 block of University Avenue. The victim was having dinner when he set his bag down on the floor near the table. He left after his meal and walked to the parking lot.  Realizing he left his bag the victim returned inside and discovered it missing.  The victim checked with staff and it had not been turned in. The bag contained the victim’s laptop.

April 24

Robbery, Adeline and Woosey streets On Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at approximately 8:30 p.m. a robbery occurred near the intersection of Adeline Street and Woolsey Street. The female victim was walking in the area. She heard footsteps behind her. The victim was then shoved from behind and fell to the ground. One of the suspects grabbed her bag as she was falling. The suspects stole the victim's bag containing her wallet and other items. The suspects were last seen running north on Adeline Street. The suspects are described as: "Black Female, 17 years old, 5'3", 115 lbs wearing a light colored hooded sweatshirt." "Black Female, 17 years old, 5'4", 120 lbs wearing all dark clothing."

April 25

Residential Burglary, 40 Block of Montrose Avenue On Thursday, April 25, 2016 between 12:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. a residential burglary occurred in the 40 block of Montrose Avenue. The unknown suspect entered the home by breaking a window. The suspect prowled the home stealing numerous items, which included a laptop and other items. 

April 26

Residential Burglary, 2000 Block of Del Norte Street On Friday, April 26, 2013 between 3:15 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. a residential burglary occurred in the 2000 block of Del Norte Street. The resident returned home to her residence to see that it had been burglarized. It appears the unknown suspect may have entered through an unlocked window. The suspect stole jewelry and other items.

April 27

Auto Theft Attempt, 1500 Block of Campus Drive On Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 6:15 a.m. an unknown suspect attempted to steal a vehicle parked in the 1500 block of Campus Drive. The victim was inside his residence when he heard noises. He looked out and saw a vehicle stopped in the roadway. He thought it was a disabled vehicle.  He went outside to see if he could help.  He found the suspect inside his vehicle. The victim believed the suspect was attempting to burglarize the vehicle. The suspect got into a brown SUV and fled the area. After further examination of the vehicle it appears the suspect was attempting to steal the vehicle. The suspect is described as: “Hispanic Male, 35-40 years, 5’10”-6’, heavy set.”
