Berkeley Crime: Gunpoint Robbery near College and Alcatraz, Home Burglary on Arch

The Berkeley Police crime blotter for May 19-25 includes the armed robbery of a man near College and Alcatraz by three other men, a car stolen on Addison, a home burglary on Arch and two burglaries of businesses.

The following summary of recent crime was provided by the Berkeley Police Department with the following disclaimer:

May 19
 
Residential Burglary, 1600 Block of Arch Street – On May 19, 2013 at approximately 10:59 p.m. a residential burglary occurred in the 1600 block of Arch Street.  The suspect entered possibly through an unlocked window.  A computer and several other items were taken from the home. 

May 20
 

Vandalism, 1200 Block of Oxford Street
 – On Monday, May 20, 2013 between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. someone vandalized a property in the 1200 block of Oxford Street.  An unknown suspect, using spray paint, painted a retaining wall. 

May 21 

Auto Theft, Addison Street/Roosevelt Street
 – On Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at approximately 1:53 p.m. the victim reported their vehicle stolen.  The vehicle was parked near the intersection of Roosevelt Street and Addison Street.  The owner’s son had parked the vehicle the previous night.  When she went out in the morning, she discovered the vehicle missing.  Taken is a Blue, 1995, Honda Odyssey. 

May 22
 

Commercial Burglary, 1400 Block of Shattuck Avenue.
 – On Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at approximately 5:13 p.m. a commercial burglary occurred at a business in the 1400 block of Shattuck Avenue.  The victim had left his office for a moment.  When he returned he discovered one of the suspects standing outside his office door and another inside his office.  When confronted the suspects stated they were looking for someone else.  The suspect then left his office. The victim discovered that his desk had been rummaged through and that some of his personnel property was on the floor.  

The suspects are described as: 

Suspect 1 – “Black Male, 18-20 years old, 6’-6’2”, thin, short hair wearing a black shirt and black blue jeans.”
Suspect 2 – “Black Male, 18-20 years old, 5’8”-5’9”, stocky build with short hair”

May 23 

Robbery, College Avenue/Alcatraz Avenue
 – On Thursday, May 23, 2013 at approximately 1:00 a.m. a robbery occurred near the intersection of College Avenue and Alcatraz Avenue.  The victim was walking in the area when he was approached from behind.  The suspects, one armed with a gun demanded the victim’s property. The suspects stole the victim’s cell phone and wallet.  

The suspects are described as: 

Suspect – “Black Male, 20s, 5’10”, 150 lbs wearing dark clothing”
Suspect – “Black Male, 20s, 6’1”, 160 lbs wearing dark clothing”
Suspect – “Black Male, No Further Details”

May 24 

Commercial Burglary, 900 Block of Heinz Avenue –
 On Friday, May 24, 2013 between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. a commercial burglary took place in the 900 block of Heinz Avenue.  The employees were in the rear of the business.  During that time an unknown suspect entered the premise and stole several times from the business, including computers. 

May 25
 

Auto Burglary, 1600 Block of 63rd Street
 – On Saturday, May 25, 2013 at approximately 7:00 p.m. the victim reported that someone broke into her vehicle.  The vehicle as parked and locked in the 1600 block of 63rd Street.  The unknown suspect gained access to the vehicle and prowled through the contents.  Nothing appears to have been stolen.
