BART Arrest Leads to Discovery of Stolen Bicycles

Police say a Richmond man stole at least 10 bicycles. They're trying to find the owners now.

BART police have arrested a man they say stole at least 10 bicycles and had more than 100 pieces of bike equipment in his possession.

Authorities took into custody 57-year-old Richmond resident Marque Moore at the Ashby BART station in Berkeley.

Police say Moore was trying to sell a bicycle stolen in San Francisco three months ago back to its original owner.

Authorities say a search of Moore's residence turned up more than 10 bicycles, 57 bicycle tires, 24 bicycle wheels, 21 bike seats, four bicycle frames, guns and ammunition.

Moore was booked into the Glenn Dyer Detention Facility in Oakland on suspicion of two counts of possession of stolen property, one count of a felon in possession of a firearm, one count of a felon in possession of ammunition and violation of parole.

Authorities said if they can confirm more of the bicycle property is stolen, they will add charges.

BART officials have set up a website with photos, so people who have had bikes stolen can check to see if their property is there. Victims will need proof that they own the stolen property.

I am sure the only reason he was carrying a firearm at the time of his arrest is because he planned to surrender it to the local authorities right after he completed his business.
He no doubt intended to surrender the other guns found in his home as well but could only carry one at a time. Makes sense to me!

Dover, he was carrying a firearm because he was a criminal. And because of that possession of a deadly weapon in the commission of a crime, he will probably suffer enhanced penalties....
Or don't you want that?

Nice job by BART Police and by the SF resident who found his/her own stolen bike and helped arrange the sting!
If you've had a bike stolen check out the website photos and see if yours is there.

Do let me know when you are capable of connecting the dots of logic, Paul. Then I will be more than happy to chat further.

Dover, you're getting more and more nonsensical with every post. I guess the original comment was sarcastic, right? We already know your pro gun attitude but that particular comment of yours saddened me. Surely a pro law-and-order pro-firearm individual such as yourself would publicly applaud the capture of a felon and the removal of a deadly weapon from use. Instead -- for whatever personal reasons you needed to satisfy -- you felt compelled to twist the good actions of law enforcement in protecting all of us into a juvenile comment about your distaste for gun control.
Here's a perfect case of a gun being taken off the street without injury to anyone, the perpetrator probably behind bars for years and all you can think to do is make some snarky comment? Connect your own dots first.

I've reread the article 3 times, and still can't find where it says that he * WAS CARRYING * a firearm at the time of his arrest. Where is it?
