Arrest in Kensington Homicide

"Person of interest" arrested by Kensington police today.

Kensington police this morning arrested a suspect connected to a , police said.

In a brief news release without details, the police department said the "person of interest" who had been sought in the case "was taken into custody and booked into the Contra Costa County Jail in Martinez, Ca. without incident."

Kensington police last night reported that an officer who had gone to a Kensington residence about 11:55 a.m. yesterday to conduct a welfare check found a resident deceased inside.

Police determined that the person died under suspicious circumstances and said that they were seeking a "person of interest."

The name of the dead person was being withheld pending notification of immediate family, police said.

Police declined to provide further details this morning and said a further update may be provided this afternoon.

Working with Kensington police in the investigation are the Contra County district attorney's office and the county crime lab, police said.
