Berkeley police have arrested a 21-year-old Oakland woman in connection with Berkeley homicide case, according to Berkeleyside.
Berkeley police arrested the woman Monday on a warrant connected to a Berkeley homicide, the website reported, citing the Alameda County sheriff's department.
Officer Jennifer Coats, a spokeswoman for Berkeley police, told Patch that the department cannot release any information at this time because it's an "active investigation" by detectives.
"Any release of information at this point could jeopardize their investigation," she said.
Sgt. J.D. Nelson, spokesman for the Alameda County Sheriff's department told Patch he has no information about the case.
Eamon O'Connor of the Alameda County District Attorney's office told Patch that no charges have been filed against the woman as of late Wednesday afternoon.
Berkeleyside called the arrest the "third homicide-related arrest in 2013 that police have declined to release many details about, citing the on-going investigations."
According to statistics from the state Criminal Justice Statistics Center, the annual number of homicides recorded in Berkeley between 2002 and 2011 ranges between a high of eight in 2008 and a low of one in 2007.
